Internship Opportunities |

The United States World War One Centennial Commission is a volunteer-based organization that receives no taxpayer funding and relies on private donations. We depend heavily on our interns to help us achieve our mission to Honor, Educate, and Commemorate during the Centennial period. We appreciate your interest in becoming a part of our team. The Centennial Commission offers a wide range of internship opportunities to current, recent, or returning graduate or undergraduate students. Interns are welcome from any field of study; the only specific qualifications are professionalism, dedication, self-starting, and an excellent work ethic. While most interns work during the summer, interns are welcome in the fall and spring terms as well. Internships at the Commission are unpaid. Centennial Commission interns have the opportunity to work independently on a variety of projects in many different fields. Internships typically take place in Washington, DC, but we are open to custom-designed internships which involve research or production at other locations. Some interns may work as research assistants, contributing directly to research on a wide range of World War One issues. Other interns may work in staff and program offices. Centennial Commission interns find themselves in a dynamic work environment where they have the opportunity to work closely with a small volunteer staff, develop both research and professional skills, and to participate in a variety of activities and events of the Commission and our partners. An internship at the Centennial Commission is a great way to find out about yourself and what you want out of a career, and it can also give you a leg up when applying for a full-time job. Whether you’re just trying to get work experience or evaluating a career field, an internship at the Centennial Commission could give you the edge you need in the employment marketplace.
